Care
Guide

Whether you own natural or synthetic cane, here's how to keep it looking its best.

Natural Cane — Indoor Use Only

Caring for Natural Cane

Natural cane is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to direct sunlight, rain, or outdoor conditions will cause damage over time.

Daily Maintenance

Ongoing

  • -Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster
  • -Use a vacuum with a brush attachment for crevices and tight weave
  • -Wipe spills immediately with a slightly damp cloth - never soak

Deep Cleaning

Monthly

  • -Mix mild soap with warm water in a bowl
  • -Dampen a cloth - do not soak or saturate the material
  • -Wipe down the cane in the direction of the weave
  • -Dry immediately with a clean, soft towel

Keep Indoors Only

Placement

  • -Natural cane is strictly for indoor use - sun and water cause irreversible damage
  • -Position away from south-facing or unshaded windows to prevent drying and fading
  • -Use curtains, blinds, or UV-filtering window glass for pieces near windows

Humidity Control

Environment

  • -Ideal humidity range is 40–60% for long-term natural cane health
  • -In dry conditions: use a humidifier near the furniture
  • -In humid climates: ensure good air ventilation to prevent mould
Synthetic Cane — Indoor & Outdoor

Caring for Synthetic Cane

Synthetic cane can be used anywhere - indoors or outdoors - as long as it is properly maintained.

Regular Cleaning

  • -Wipe down with a damp cloth weekly
  • -Use mild soap and water for deeper cleans
  • -Rinse thoroughly to remove soap residue

Outdoor Placement

  • -Can handle sun and rain, but regular cleaning extends life
  • -Cover or store during extreme weather if possible
  • -Check joints and frame periodically for wear

Long-Term Care

  • -Avoid abrasive cleaners or steel wool
  • -Touch up any scratches to prevent further wear
  • -Cushions should be stored indoors when not in use
